Abstract

The「Survey on the Correctional Treatment Model for Long-Term Inmates」was designed to develop a proper model for the treatment of long-term inmates in Korea. This survey, by providing information on the specific needs of long-term inmates and correctional officer and the principles of inmate management as well as practical knowledge, aims to contribute in the establishment of a direction for Korea’s correctional policy. To accommodate the opinions of both the long-term inmates and the correctional officers in the process of policy making, both groups were separately surveyed.
The questionnaire includes contents on the current state and need for long-term inmate treatment programs and program specific (prison labor, vocational training, academic education, psychological and emotional training, religious programs, strengthening social ties, medical services, strengthening of family ties, law, strengthening of regulations, preparation for social readjustment after release) points of improvement.
