This survey was designed to allow comparisons between the characteristics and social adjustment of female and male inmates and for the provision of programs for the rehabilitation and support of female convicts that are effective in repressing recidivism. Thus the significance of this survey is that it allows for the recognition of the need for gender specific considerations when establishing policies for the support and rehabilitation of released convicts. The questionnaire is composed of contents including the transition in female crime, characteristics of female and male inmates, experiences of abuse, requests regarding prison life and treatment, need for support after release, and released convicts’ state of rehabilitation.
