Abstract

In recent years a majority of North Korean refugees are opting to enter into South Korea, the number of cases reaching around 10,000 in 2006. The North Korean refugees experience various difficulties in adjusting to Korean society one of which is criminal victimization. This survey was conducted to establish measures to minimize criminal victimization by investigating the criminal victimization of North Korean refugees and examining attitudes towards criminal victimization and societal reactions. The questionnaire is composed of two parts. The main questionnaire includes the respondents’ socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics, attitude towards crime, and records of fraud victims. The secondary questionnaire includes victimization records from crimes other than fraud.
