Abstract

This data is a compilation of the 「Survey on Corruption in Public Office」 administered by the Korea Institute of Public Administration in 2004. The aim of this survey is to collect data for the establishment of anti corruption policy by understanding the overall state of government corruption from various aspects, and closely examining the characteristics of corruption through those who have either worked closely with or directly for a government body. By including the contents of the yearly survey on corruption conducted by the Korea Institute of Public Administration since 1999, this survey is designed to allow the study of changes in corruption in Korean society. The questionnaire includes the following contents: the evaluation and attitude towards the overall state of corruption in public office, tendencies of corruption, actual experiences of submitting bribes, attitude towards the prevalence of corruption in various areas, the process of the occurrence of corruption, motivation for corruption, causes and methods of eliminating corruption.
