Abstract

This survey was conducted to collect data on the observance of traffic laws and rules by the citizens of Gwangju. This survey was conducted three times between 1999 and 2001 simultaneously conducting separate surveys among general drivers, taxi drivers, and bus drivers in order to examine the characteristics of each group of drivers.
This data was collected from general drivers of Gwangju in 1999 and the questionnaire includes contents on driving record, whether or not one wears a seatbelt, level of alcohol consumption and experience of drinking and driving, driving behavior while intoxicated, whether one has been punished for drinking and driving, experience of penalization for parking violation, evaluation of Gwangju citizens’ level of traffic awareness, status of compliance with traffic signals, everyday driving habits, and willingness to utilize bicycles.
