The migration of Korean workers to the Middle East began in 1974 and the number steadily increased until it reached 170,000 in 1983. Following the fall in oil prices and the increase in the wages of Korean construction workers the numbers have continually dropped. This survey aims to study the process of migration among Korean workers who have experienced working in the Middle East from the preparation stages to adapting to new surroundings and thereafter returning to Korea and readapting. The questionnaire includes contents on experience of employment before migration, process of preparing for overseas migration, life at the workplace in the Middle East, process of remittance, financial benefits gained from migration, changes in standard of living after return, employment, and family adaptation and changes in family relations.
