Abstract
The government lunched the「National Health Handbook Pilot Project」in 1987 targeting the residents of Cheonan-si and Buan-gun developing and distributing a national health handbook to encourage individuals to manage their own health. The Korea Institute for Population and Health (currently the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, KIHASA), in order to examine the problems concerning the contents and utilization of the health handbook through the pilot project, conducted two surveys divided into an interim and a final evaluation.
This data was collected through the interim evaluation survey and includes contents on acquisition of health handbook utilization methods and channels of acquisition, awareness of handbook content, possession of handbook and frequency of usage, whether one writes down the results of medical treatments in the handbook and reasons for not doing so, utilization of promotional material, and level of satisfaction with physical examination.
