The Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, a government-funded research institute established in 1971 conducts systematic analysis and research on policy tasks in the healthcare and social welfare sectors, and produces relevant basic statistics. It makes contribution to developing national policies and establish mid- to long-term development plans. It conducts research on health policy, social insurance and policy, welfare administration, and population policy, and Since 2011, it has been operating Health and Welfare Data Portal, which is a statistics and micro data DB related to welfare. Major research studies include the Korea Welfare Panel Survey, the National Fertility and Family Health and Welfare Survey, the Elderly Survey, the Survey of the Disabled, and the Patient Survey.
